About Bayton Primary School
School originally built in 1872, situated in a conservation area of outstanding natural beauty. Original schoolroom divided into 2 main teaching rooms (Y2 and Y5/6). Addition of large classroom specially-equipped for Reception and Year 1 and additional classroom in 2006 for Y3/4. New secure foyer, entrance and cloakroom area. Remainder of school totally refurbished including new ceilings and redecorated. Old School House now incorporated into main building and used as administration space, new library and well-equipped Technology room.
The school share the Village Hall with the community and benefits from a large sports field, bordering the playground. They have excellent PTA and community support who has raised funds to provide school with an outdoor classroom. The school benefits from Outstanding indoor and outdoor Early Years Provision for Preschool and reception. Forest School area established 2009-all pupils have opportunity to experience child-initiated activities in safe environment.
Recent landscaping project, provided outdoor classroom, quiet area to be used for lessons and play, bicycle shelter and awning for provision outdoors when weather inclement. Play area installed in 2006. New Forest School area established 2009-all pupils have opportunity to experience child-initiated activities in safe environment.
School has approximately 100 pupils, split amongst 4 classes and offer education from 3-11 years. Church of England School with strong links to parish church and wider local community. Our curriculum and endeavour is focused on connecting people with each other, with the school, with their community, with the world and what they are learning. When learning is connected, it can retain and grow.
Our after-school provision is varied and rich, from art to sport to our popular Culture Club.
The Nursery on site, Little Learners works very closely with the school and provides wrap-around care from 8am to 6pm throughout the year. The school has actively pursued the attainment of various awards and standards which include Healthy Schools, Sportsmark Award 3 years running, Eco Schools and Artsmark, both silver standard. Our SATS results this year have again been excellent with 100% for English Maths and Science at level 4+ and an outstanding 73% achieving level 5 in English! Our most recent OFSTED report rated the school as Good with Outstanding features.
The school has an excellent record of achievement through Ofsted 2024 and SIAMS 2025.
